Journal Entry: The Future of AI in My Classroom

 

As an English teacher with two years of experience teaching A1+ to B1 learners, I see Artificial Intelligence (AI) as both a helpful tool and a challenge. After reading the 2024 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report, I realize that AI is not a distant concept. It is already shaping how we teach and learn.

In the short term, AI tools can help me personalize learning. My students have different needs and learning speeds. AI-powered apps could give instant, level-based feedback, saving me time on corrections and letting me focus on supporting creativity, confidence, and communication.



However, I do not believe AI can replace the teacher. Many lower-level students need empathy, motivation, and human connection. These are things AI cannot provide. Especially in language learning, the teacher’s role goes far beyond instruction.

Looking ahead, I believe AI literacy will become essential. I will not only teach English but also help students use tools like ChatGPT ethically. They need to learn how to check information, avoid plagiarism, and think critically about digital content.

My goal is to create a classroom where AI supports learning without replacing the human element. With thoughtful use, AI can enhance learning outcomes while keeping the heart of education rooted in personal growth and connection.

Week 9_The Second Week Doing ICT Action PLan

Last week, we had some challenges helping the students use Flip successfully. We realized we needed to take more time demonstrating how the app works. This week, we made sure to thoroughly explain Flip to the students. We showed them each step for uploading their practice videos multiple times. This really helped the students a lot. When it was time for their homework, they felt comfortable putting their videos on Flip without any problems. In class, we were happy to see how excited the students were when their videos played. They paid close attention as we provided feedback on their pronunciation. It was great to see them so engaged with the technology. We could really see the students enjoying getting individualized help from us. After correcting mistakes, we had the whole group rehearse the audio recording together. Week 1_Creating an Academic Blog

My very first lesson in the " Internet in Language Teaching " course is " Creating an academic blog " 💓 One major takeaway from this module is the importance of simplifying information. 🚀 At first, I think traditional academic blog can be hard for my students to get into because it is usually stuck in academic papers and conferences.
